Hamid Husain Mirza, a renowned Muslim poet, wrote devotional poetry praising Allah Almighty (Hamd), Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) through Naat, and the Sufis via Manqabat. Born on January 20, 1936 CE, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, India, into a devout family, he was known as Hamid Amrohavi. His father, Hafiz Abdur Rauf, was also a distinguished Islamic poet.

A devoted lover of Prophet Mohammad, Mirza expressed his deep devotion through poetry (Hamd, Naat & Manqabat) since his early years. His poetic journey began in 9th grade, influenced by the weekly Naat Khwaani gatherings held at his house for over 100 years, initiated by his father in 1923 CE.

After his education, he worked in the Sugar Cane department in Uttar Pradesh from 1953 to 1969, later joining the non-teaching staff at AMU Aligarh from 1969 to 1996. While at AMU, he temporarily moved to Chicago, America, from 1991 to 1996. He resided there until his death on July 29, 2022, at the age of 86, and was buried in Elgin Cemetery, Chicago. May Allah illuminate his grave with Noor and grant him a place in Jannah.

Mirza authored several books, including “Midhat Ke Phool,” “Khayaban-e-Iram,” “Juibar-e-Bakhshish,” “Mata-e-Makhfi,” “Sarma-e-Rauf Amrohavi,” “Wasila-e-Bakhshish,” “Zaria-e-Bakhshish,” “Is paar se us paar,” “Naat Khowani se Naat Goi tak,” and “Yaad-e-Madina.” He married Sardar Khanam, known as Makhfi Amrohvi, and their children include Dr. Zeba Jaleel, Dr. Zia Rauf Shamshi, Zehra Quadri, Mohammad Amir Mirza, and Mohammad Babar Mirza.

Madhat Key Phool

This book is the first beautiful collection of Hamd,Naat and Manqabat written by Hamid Husain Amrohvi. Hamd is devotional poetry in the praise of Allah Almighty. Naat is poetry in praise of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) and poetry in praise of Sufis is called Manqabat. The first edition was published in 1995 CE/1415 AH and the second edition was published in 2001 CE/1421 AH by Islamic Book Foundation New Delhi. It consists of 217 pages. There are about 80 beautiful pieces of poetry in the book after reading which the heart fills with love for Allah Almighty and His Beloved Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him.

Sarmaya -E- Rauf Amrohvi

This book compiled by Hamid Amrohvi Sahab is the collection of Hamd, Naat, Manqabat and Ghazal written by his father Hafiz Abdur Rauf. He was born in 1894 CE in the Mughal Family of Amroha. He was a distinguished poet. He initiated a weekly Naat Recitation program in his house. Every week after the Friday prayers people would gather to share their own or other poet's works in praise of the prophet. The tradition continues till date since 1923. It shows the devotion of Abdur Rauf to Allah Almighty and his immense love for the Prophet peace be upon him. This book was published in 2007 CE/1428 AH by Diamond Printers New Delhi. It has 502 pages of classical poetry.

Iss Par Se Uss Par Tak

This book is compiled by Hamid Amrohvi as a tribute to family relations. There are photographs of his daughters sons grand daughters/sons and great grand daughters/sons alongwith a lovely poem dedicated to each one of them. Also, there are Hamd, Naat and expression of thought. It was published in 2015 CE/1436 AH by Diamond Printers New Delhi.

Waseela-E-Bakshish

This book is considered one of Hamid's significant works on Hamd, Naat and Manqabat. This book was published in 2008 CE/1429 AH by Diamond Printers New Delhi. It has 200 pages and about 70 poems (Hamd, Naat and Manqabat) This book contains not only Islamic Poetries but also important thoughts related to Hamid Amrohvi and his appreciation of naatiya poetry in general and some great contemporaries of the time.

Yaad-E-Madina

One of the other prominent books by Hamid Husain Mirza is "Yaad e Madina" . There are more than 250 pieces of poetry (Hamd, Naat, Manqabat and Ghazal) which were written and recited on various occasions/ mushairas. This book was published in 2017 CE/1438 AH by Diamond Printers New Delhi. It consists of 488 pages and is a significant contribution to Islamic poetry. Hamid Amrohvi has used simple heart touching language which makes the work stand apart. His contemporaries often remarked and complimented him for his unique style.
